<p>Charcoal pencil and bookmark, inspired by a detail of the dragon sceptre, made in 1828 for the acclamation of Queen Maria II, by William Clutton and David Cox (goldsmiths) in the Stor &amp; Mortimer workshop, symbolising the crown of Portugal, the constitutional charter of 1826 and the dragon emblematic of the House of Braganza, and by the Portuguese royal crown commissioned in Brazil, in 1817, from Inácio Luiz da Costa (craftsman) and António Gomes da Silva (goldsmith), when King João VI ascended the throne.</p>
